Alabama Apple Crunch Day

Alabama Apple Crunch Day is an annual event hosted by the Alabama Farm to School Program in partnership with the Farm Food Collaborative. Apple Crunch Day occurs every October, which is also National Farm to School Month!

You can celebrate Apple Crunch Day by purchasing and crunching into locally and regionally grown apples at 11am on Tuesday, October 18, 2022.

Last year, Tiny Toes Home Daycare in Meridianville celebrated Apple Crunch Day by purchasing locally grown apples from Scott’s Orchard in Hazel Green. Director Laura Rogers planned classroom activities and everyone got the chance to crunch into their apples on the big day!

In 2021 over 17,000 Alabamians signed up to participate in Apple Crunch Day. Add your name to the list this year! You can register your program to participate in Alabama Apple Crunch Day by clicking here. Be sure to share the photos from your Crunch on social media to let your community know that your program is participating.

Ways to Celebrate in the Classroom

Cut open the apple and count the seeds!

Cut the apple horizontally to see the classic star shape inside the apple. Talk about the shape of the apple (round) and the shape on the inside (star).
