Little Angels Home Daycare in Atmore, Alabama, originally participated in the Farm to ECE Learning Collaborative in 2021 and has received Farm to ECE Sustainability Funding to continue their activities since 2022. Amber Harrison of Little Angels Home Daycare recently shared their spring garden journey with us!
Late winter/early spring, Mr. Glendon got our big garden ready. The kiddos enjoyed planting onions and seed potatoes! Then, we planted some greens and broccoli in the container garden.

Everyone enjoyed watching the tractor and seeder plant the sweet corn, and enjoyed watching it grow! The children loved doing a daily garden report and showing parents how much everything grew.
When it was time to dig the potatoes, the kiddos helped get almost half of them up! We all enjoyed making fresh mashed potatoes right from the garden! The kids got to vote a thumbs up or down on if they liked them.

We also got to enjoy some local farm snap green beans and the kiddos got to help wash, snap, and can them. Along with some of our garden potatoes!
We also got to eat some fresh corn on the cob when it was ready, and everyone gave it a thumbs up! Now we have some okra planted and waiting for it to produce some yummy goods!
